The £43.5m Ponteland Leisure Centre was handed over in November 2020. Built by Kier Construction, the whole scheme also saw the construction of 2 brand new schools behind the impressive curved façade. With a pool, aqua play area, 500 station gym, sports hall, spinning studio and 3G pitches, it’s part of a wider £57m investment in leisure and education by Northumberland County Council.

This project was comprised of a new primary, high school and leisure centre co-located within one multi-purpose building. As part of the wider community commitment Kier also constructed a brand-new community fire station which was handed over to the Northumberland Fire Service in January 2020.
The signage package consisted of many types bespoke signs developed by FaulknerBrowns Architects. These included vinyl wall graphics, manifestations, acrylic and aluminium wayfinding, tactile signage as well as the external post sign systems and building signage.

The finished project is an asset to the community of Ponteland and the surrounding areas who look forward to the development being used for years to come.
