consultancy

As a sign consultancy we provide professional advice and guidance on various aspects of signage. This includes design, installation, maintenance, branding, and compliance. We work with clients from sectors such as retail, hospitality, education, health, and transport, to create effective sign solutions to achieve the clients requirements. As sign consultants we also offer other related services, such as design development, project management, site surveys and planning applications.

Signs can be used for various purposes, such as advertising, wayfinding, safety, or decoration. However, installing signs is not as simple as it may seem. It requires careful planning, design, fabrication, and installation to ensure that the signs are effective. Signage must also be durable, and compliant with the relevant regulations.

The installation process of signs in the UK can vary. This depends on the type, size, and location of the sign, as well as the preferences of the business. Sign installation can involve different methods and equipment, depending on the type, size, and design of the sign. Some signs may require electrical wiring, drilling, or scaffolding, while others may be simply attached with adhesive backing or clips.

Our consultants use a unique ‘10 step process’ to guide you on your sign journey. This will ensure your project is delivered on time, and within budget.

challenges to be considered when installing signage

Regulations:

You need to comply with the various rules and regulations that govern the installation of signs in the UK. Such as the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007, the Building Regulations 2010, the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and the British Standards. These regulations can affect the size, shape, position, illumination, and content of the signs, and may require you to obtain planning permission, building consent, or other approvals before installing the signs.

Site conditions:

You need to consider the physical and environmental conditions of the site where the sign will be installed. This includes the height, orientation, visibility, accessibility, and stability of the location. These conditions can affect the design, fabrication, and installation of the sign, and may require you to use special equipment, materials, or methods to ensure the safety and quality of the sign.

In addition to the points above we may also recommend structural calculations when installing larger signage. Structural calculations are necessary for large signs to ensure that they are structurally sound and safe. The calculations help determine the strength, stability, and load-bearing capacity of the sign’s structural elements based on the installation location. Our structural engineer will carry out the calculations to make sure that the proposed works are structurally sound and in line with modern building standards. The report is prepared by our structural engineer and in some cases can alter the design and specification required for signage based on the findings.

As a signage consultancy we can help you achieve impactful signage by bridging the gap between your signage needs and the technicalities of the signage options available to you.
