illuminated signage

If you are looking for a way to make your business stand out you might want to consider illuminated signage.

Illuminated signage is any sign that uses some form of lighting to enhance its appearance and visibility. There are many types of illumination available to suit your budget, design and business needs.

Different types of illumination serve various purposes, meet visibility requirements, and cater to aesthetic preferences when chosen. By combining these techniques, signs can achieve a unique and compelling appearance that enhances branding and visibility.

face illumination

This method lights up the front of the sign, making the face of the letters or graphics glow. Commonly used in channel letters, this type of illumination ensures maximum visibility from the front. The LEDs placed inside the letters achieve this by shining through a translucent face. The brightness and colour can be adjusted, offering flexibility in design and aesthetic appeal.

halo illuminated signage

Also known as backlit, this technique involves placing lights behind the letters or sign, creating a glowing halo effect around the edges. LEDs mounted on the back of the sign create the light source. The sign face remains opaque, while the light spills out from the edges, creating a sophisticated and elegant look. Halo illumination is popular for its modern, sleek appearance, often used for high-end businesses or to create a striking effect.

edge lighting

Involves illuminating the edges of a sign or letters. The LED light source is placed along the sign’s perimeter, creating a glowing outline. Edge lighting adds a sleek, contemporary look and is energy efficient. It’s often used in combination with other lighting techniques to enhance visibility and aesthetic appeal.

internal illumination

This technique incorporates light sources within the sign structure, illuminating the entire sign or selected parts of the sign face from within. Common in lightboxes, and sign trays this method uses LEDs to provide even, bright illumination. It is highly visible and effective for both day and night use.

trough lighting

This method involves using a trough-like fixture to house the light source, typically positioned above or below the sign. The light spreads evenly across the sign’s surface, providing uniform illumination. Trough lighting is suitable for large signs, such as those used for facias or project boards. Using fluorescent tubes or LEDs, we can efficiently light up extensive areas without the need for multiple light sources.
