Norsign Group Ltd is proud to have played a significant role in the creation of the UK’s first completely carbon-neutral blue light Tri-Station in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear. This state-of-the-art facility serves the community by housing Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), and Northumbria Police under one roof.
design
The innovative design and project management for the new station were led by Sunderland City Council’s Capital Projects team, with Esh Construction serving as the Main Contractor. Norsign Group Ltd was honoured to be selected as the signage contractor for this landmark project.
Our contributions included the manufacture and installation of prominent three-dimensional text and logos on the building façade. Additionally, we created and installed logos for Northumbria Police, NEAS, and TWFRS, which were mounted on timber sleepers along the facility boundary. We also provided directional post-mounted signage in key areas around the car park, ensuring clear navigation and identification.

Before commencing manufacture, we conducted a thorough site survey to determine the necessary access equipment and confirm signage locations. Acting as consultants, we advised on the specifications and fixing methods for the external signage to ensure its durability and security on the building’s cladding.
Our highly skilled installation team, certified in working at heights and trained under PASMA and IPAF standards, meticulously planned and executed the installation process. Utilizing powered access equipment, our team ensured that the high-level external signage was securely and safely installed.
Blending Design with Functionality
The signage for the Hebburn Tri-Station seamlessly combines contemporary design with practical functionality, clearly identifying the building as an emergency services facility. Our work not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the station but also supports its vital public service role.
