A well thought out and flexible wayfinding system is a must in Hospital Signage to ensure that users can get where they need to go with the minimum fuss. This is why Norsign were called on, as specialists in this field, to work alongside the Main Contractor, Multiplex on the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

From the early stages on this project, Norsign went the extra mile in making sure that everything they specified and produced was of the highest standard and in line with the NHS branding guidelines. As a result, the signage at the hospital was completed to the highest standard, on time, on budget and most importantly providing a wayfinding system that is compliant with the graphic designer’s brief.
the project
Norsign were appointed the signage contractor for the new build NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to manufacture, supply and install all brand identification and internal wayfinding signage at the Hospital.
This involved the supply and installation of over 26,000 internal signs, plus external signs, manufactured, supplied and fitted in the 14-floor hospital comprising of a 1109-bed adult facility plus a 256-bed children’s’ facility. Our senior surveyor Robert Mutton surveyed the site in total over 5 days to fully understand the project, confirm sign locations and advise on installation methods and placements suitable for a hospital environment. Our comprehensive survey report was submitted for review and sign off by our clients.
Following the survey we produced a pack to include sign locations, content, specification and size of all signs required throughout the building. This ensured we produced a well thought out, clear and flexible wayfinding system to ensure that users could get where they need to go.
